New European Ensemble

The sextet Vortex Temporum by the French spectralist Gérard Grisey is seen more and more as one of the great late-20th-century chamber music works.

Despite the recent success that Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker had with it, the work remains under-performed. Novecento has turned the spotlights on it, and we are programming the work not once, but twice in this concert. This gives you the opportunity to completely immerse yourself in the wondrous temporal dimensions that Grisey sets out in Vortex Temporum. You’ll experience not only the human perspective but that of the whales, birds and insects.

There will be a short intermezzo between the two performances, during which the musicians will talk about their fascination with this work.
