It’s good that we are all seeking to create a more equal society, that respects everyone. It’s also good that we’re considering what effects our lan- guage, our words, can have. But when must we actually ban a word? 

This is a complicated question. To arrive at an answer we may have to reconsider the balance between our moral responsibility and our historical awareness. In this mini-symposium, a constructive dialogue will explore these questions, as well as the more specific question of the responsibility borne by culture makers.
