Ictus

Joanna Bailie

What would we hear if we could turn up the volume of all the sounds that have ever sounded in a place? Inspired by a short story by Salomo Friedlaender, Joanna Bailie uses this idea as the foundation of an imaginary audio-visual trip through a space, in which all the sounds that have ever been made there are unravelled bit by bit, like an aural voyage back in time. Video screens, speakers and musicians surround the audience and will create their own space.

Ictus

Ictus is a Brussels-based contemporary music ensemble. Founded in 1994 as a live band for the dance company Rosas at a time when ensembles presented themselves as mini-orchestras with virtuoso soloists, Ictus today emerges as a collective of creative musicians dedicated to experimental music in its broadest sense: written music, sound art, improvisation and electronics.
