Along the Path of Beauty

James MacMillan, Arvo Pärt

James MacMillan is one of today’s most important contemporary composers of spiritual choral music. He’s one of those rare artists who always reach the mystery of the divine through the beauty of their music.

This programme features two of his most moving a cappella pieces, Miserere and Tenebrae Responsories. In between them is a composition from that other great master of spirituality,

Arvo Pärt. Sarah Was Ninety Years Old is like a ritual, with a highly appropriate title, since Pärt himself is turning 90 this year.

The Flemish Radio Choir will be conducted by none other than MacMillan himself. With soloists like soprano Lore Binon and organist Bernard Foccroulle, the way to heaven seems assured.
