Trio Abstrakt

The ensemble Trio Abstrakt based in Cologne has devoted itself to contemporary chamber music from the last three decades. As the creative home of musicians Salim(a) Javaid (saxophone), Marlies Debacker (piano), and Alexandre Ferreira Silva (percussion), the trio combines chamber music tradition with a continuous engagement with the present. The ensemble aims to bring music of today to life, relying on a non-hierarchical collaboration with composers. 

As a composer, Frederik Neyrinck has collaborated with ensembles and orchestras both at home and abroad, with recordings by, amongst others, I SOLISTI, Revue Blanche and Spectra. From 2020 to 2028, he is artist-in-residence with I SOLISTI. Neyrinck is also active in the world of musical theatre and opera, having already collaborated with organisations such as LOD musical theatre, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and Kopergietery. In addition, he frequently creates arrangements and transcriptions of existing repertoire.

Spanish composer Alberto Posadas is interested in the relationship between music, nature and mathematics. He searches for the integration of various aesthetics and new composition procedures such as the translation of architectural spaces into music or the exploration of the acoustic features of instruments at a micro level. His music has been performed throughout the world by performers such as Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Intercontemporain and Quatuor Diotima.

An exuberant sonic fantasy is the foundation of the music of Serbian composer Milica Djordjević. As a composer, she has a masterful command of the entire arsenal of contemporary sound and performance techniques. Her versatile work includes pieces for solo instruments, chamber music, vocal and large orchestral compositions. Djordjević has worked with leading performers and orchestras of our time, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Arditti Quartet, Ensemble Musikfabrik and Marco Blaauw.
